How about taking a little trip to Alpaca world? You can see and touch cute little alpacas with fresh air and widespread forest. It is located in Gangwon province, but it is easy to get here by bus from Seoul.
How to get there
In the east part of Seoul, there is Dongseoul(which means East Seoul) Bus Terminal. It’s in front of Gangbyeon subway station, line 2.
If you get there, buy a ticket for Hongcheon(홍천). With 7,400 won and an hour, you will arrive at Hongcheon bus Terminal(홍천터미널). Then you should transfer to bus for Deokbatjae(덕밭재). Only 5 bus is served per day(07:00, 09:10, 14:40, 16:10, 18:30). Tell the driver that you go to alpaca park. The driver will tell you where to get off. Finally, you can take a shuttle bus from Deokbatjae. The entrance fee is 15,000 won.
What to see
Obviously, you can find lots of alpacas hanging around. You may touch them. They like when their necks are touched, while their bums are not preferred.

There are programs too. You can feed them for only 1,000 won. But be careful that if you give them too much feed at once, they won’t come. If you do so, alpacas will sit down at place, eating your prey. It would be better giving feeds bit by bit. Moreover, if you pay 10,000 won, you can take a walk with alpaca. Two packs of feeds are also included. It’s a little sad that you can’t choose of which alpaca to walk with, but strolling with an alpaca will be more interesting than expected.
Alpaca train is also a well-known attraction in this park. It goes along the hillside of the park. When it stops at the station, many alpacas approach to the train and you can see lots of them close. It also passes through ostrich area and pony area as well. Safari Train is 3,000 won.
There are not only alpacas, but also goats, deers, sheep, rabbits, and other kinds of interesting species. It has a mini birds’ garden. You can watch eagles, owls, parrots on the outside of the cage.
As you know, alpaca is not a common animal that you can meet in South Korea. So if you want something special, I recommend this site to visit on weekends. Since this park is located between deep mountains, it is very steep and the path absolutely has ups and downs. So take comfortable shoes to enjoy this park. Also, the weather is extreme. It is very hot in the summer, and cold in the winter. Therefore I recommend visit here in spring or autumn. But if you visit here at the right weather and season, you can have a walk with cute alpacas and stroke them as much as you want.
