Chuncheon, the city of lake and dakgalbi, is the capital of Gangwon Province. This city is famous for korean and traveller to escape from the crazy Seoul rhythm. HOW TO GET THERE FROM SEOUL
Depending on where you are staying in Seoul, there is three different options to access the city. Please check using Naver Map what will be the one that suits you the best !
SUBWAY :
The cheapest way to access to Chuncheon is to take the subway Gyeongchun line from anywhere in Seoul. this city is the last stop of this line. The price will depend from where you start.

TRAIN :
You could also pick the ITX from Seoul Station or Yongsan to Chuncheon Station and it will costs around 5,500 Won. There is a train every hour and take a bit less than two hours to arrive.
BUS :
If you are not too far from Seoul Express Bus Terminal station, you could also choose a 90 minutes bus ride to Chuncheon. The price will change depending on your type of bus, seat and company.

CHUNCHEON HISTORY

Chuncheon became the capital of the Gangwon Province in 1896. This city was massively destroyed during the Korean War in the battle of Chuncheon but got reconstructed fast.
Nowadays, the city is often visited for many events they organised like the Mime Festival, the Season Art Festival, the Chuncheon Puppet Festival, Makguksu festival ( cold noodles originated in Chuncheon).
But Chuncheon is mainly famous for its cuisine ! Mainly this region was famous for its chicken farming space so itโs not strange that they developed was one of the most famous korean chicken dish : Dakgalbi ! This specialty does not only include chicken but also sliced cabbage, sweet potatoes, tteok and green onions cooked in front of you in a delicious spicy sauce.
WHAT TO DO IN CHUNCHEON
Myeongdong Dakgalbi Street
This street is full of various dakgalbi and makguksu restaurant established there for a long time.You can easily access the street by walking from the train/subway station. Itโs highly recommend to have either lunch or dinner in here. If you cannot choose between all of those option, try Myeongdong 1 Beonji Dakgalbi, located on 7 Geumgang-ro 62beon-gil, itโs one of the biggest restaurant in the corner of the street.

Chuncheon Makguksu
As mentioned before Chuncheon is not only famous for the chicken dakgalbi but also for a delicious cold noodle dish called Makguksu. You could also call this dish buckwheat noodles. It is served in a cold broth most of the time you can adjust it to your taste with sugar, mustard, sesame oil or vinegar. The best place to try it is Chuncheon Makguksu located in 798-1 Geunhwa-dong, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do.
Uiamho Lake
As mentioned earlier, this area is also a lake region. From the station you can easily go to the Uiamho Lake. There is many activities options, you could just walk around the lake or also rent a bicycle. Also, there is a many boat activities on the lake. You could also head to Chuncheon Mulle-gil and rent some canoe for around 30 000 won per canoe. Do not worry if you have no experience the instructor will give you explanation before starting.

Gangchon Rail Park
On your way back or when coming, you can stop by Gangchon Rail Park. Itโs one of the funniest activity to do during spring or summer. Just hop on one of the small cart and bicycle to get around the luxurious korean countryside.
