Living in the bustling city, it’s easy to get caught up in the frenetic pace. Once in a while, a step back from the city, a short escape to the countryside, a sip of fresher air, a slower pace, & a sense of appreciation towards nature. So, I would like to introduce some interesting attractions in Iksan city, the countryside which is located out of Seoul!
Iksan Kosrak Hangari Park
This park has a whopping 3,500 Korean earthenware crocks (hangari)! You can literally smell the doenjang (soybean paste) and gochujang (red pepper paste) here while walking in the park. There are kinds of hangari here! From what I remembered, the 8 liters super big hangari, the super old hangari which aged around 100 years, the one get shot during the past wars, etc.
What to do here?!
Get to the top and have a whole full view of the park. Believe me it’s really beautiful up there! From the top, You get a full panoramic view of 3500 Hangari.
Making the Korean onion apple vinegar. There’s a cafe in the park and you can hand on trying to make the vinegar there. Take note that you’ll need to reserve in advance! More info at @kosrak_official
Do you know that the drama “The King Eternal Monarch” which is Lee Min Ho’s first comeback television series after his required military enlistment was filled in this Kosrak Garden?

Iksan Seongdangpogu pinwheel village
This Seongdangpogu pinwheel village is famous for its beautiful bike road decorated with colorful pinwheels.
You can simply rent a bicycle over here and enjoy the view of pretty pinwheels dancing and pleasant wind breezes while riding along the beautiful bike road.
Some of my favorite peoples, moments, and pictures taken at the pinwheel village.
There is also a hidden road in pinwheel valley. If you see a junction where there is a few white color signboard beside, remember to stop by and walk down the hidden road. You can find a place full of blooming daisy flowers.
Iksan Dudong Pyeonbaek Village
It is actually a cypress tree forest. It’s been a long time since I went to a forest. From the village, you can walk through the forest, and breathing in some fresh air.
It was said that the cypress trees emit various chemical substances that are good for the body and even help to relieve stress and strengthens bowel and cardiopulmonary functions. So, imagining strolling in a forest filled with cypress trees!
I planted my small little cypress tree here in the forest! It was so cute and I gave it a name called “์ด๋กฑ์ด” which means “Little Green” in English.
It was my first time seeing such a big cornfield over here. Although it wasn’t yet the corn harvest season, the workers there also pick some of them and let us taste it.
I remembered that I finished the whole corn by myself even though I just ate my lunch at that time. They call it Chodang Oksusu ์ด๋น์ฅ์์ which translates to Super Sweet Corn. Like its name, it is really super sweet and unlike the corn that I have ever eaten, it tastes like a fruit to me.
If you’re interested to do some corn harvesting experience and get a taste of freshly picked Super Sweet Corn, then you better visit this village located in Iksan during harvest season in summer from July to August.
