Gangneung is a city that is located on the eastern coastline. Since the high-speed train track has been established in 2017, you can get to this city within one and a half hours from Seoul. This city is famous for its highly developed tourism. From the 1960s, including Gangneung, the east coast area was highly pushed from the government for its advance of tourism. Many Koreans think that Gangneung is the first place to visit if you come to the east coast area. Moreover, this city hosted part of the Olympic games in the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games.
Gyeongpodae Beach

Gyeongpodae Beach is the largest and the most popular beach on the east sea. It has a wide sandy beach on the coastline with lots of pine trees when sand ends. This makes this beach unique, as from nowhere you can find these exotic pine trees beside the beach.

There are numerous hotels along the beach, so it is also comfortable to observe the seaside inside the hotel room too. Near the beach, you can find lots of seafood restaurants, made of fish from the near seashore. I had a meal with Ramyeon with crab and mussel. The broth of this ramyeon is not found elsewhere.

- How to get there:
- Take a taxi (6km away from Gangneung Train Station, 8km away from Gangneung Bus Terminal)
Bicycle and scooter Ride

Next to Gyeongpodae Beach, there is a large lake, which is also named “Gyeongpo”, because there is a traditional observatory called โGyeongpoโ. There is a circulation bicycle lane along the lake. You can rent a bicycle or a scooter at this shop, while bicycle is categorized with ordinary bicycle and electrified bicycle. I rented a scooter, and it was fun to ride.
