Naganeupseongย is a Korean fortress in Nagan-myeon in Suncheon. It was constructed in 1397 after the defeat of the Wokou pirates to protect the area.

Naganeupseong is the only remaining Joseon Dynasty walled town in Jeollanamdo. It has the old image of a Joseon folk village and fortress. Nowadays, there are 85 households and 229 people living there. Each little house is surrounded by stone walls. The village is overall well preserved, allowing visitors to observe houses and lifestyles that have all been passed down from the past.



Visitors coming here not only can eel the atmosphere of ancient life and understand more about Korea history but also can experience so many interesting cultural activities such as playing some folk games like swinging, throwing arrows.
At Naganeupseong, you can rent civilians hanbok, listen to Korea folk song that is sang by artists living in the fortress.
Especially, you can experience taking part in a Korea wedding ceremony by wearing a beautiful Korea traditional wedding dress. And itโs totally free. Itโs really fun.




Walking around the town, you will discover so many beautiful spots. You may also can hear the sound of flute that people living in the town play. And all of that make the peace of this old fortress.









One more thing that you shouldnโt miss is that climbing to the top of the fortress to get the whole view of the town.
