Hahoe folk village, located in Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do province, is a traditional village where preserves Joseon Dynastyโs style architecture and folk traditions. Here, tile-roofed houses and thatched roofed ones have been quite well conserved for a long time. This village is also listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Visiting Hahoe folk village, you not only can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, admire beautiful scenery, feel the simplicity of the villageโs citizens but also can understand more about Korea culture and history.

But first, before visiting Hahoe village, letโs pass by Buyongdae Cliff at the north of the village to get the whole view of Hahoe village from the top of the cliff. ย Itโs only take around 10~15 minutes to reach the top of Buyongdae Cliff. From here, you can see a breathtaking scenery of the village.


At the foot of the cliff is a beautiful coffee hanok that you shouldnโt miss.
Letโs take some time to chill and relax here. Drinks here are good and decorations are so pretty.
If you come here in the morning then I think that after climbing the Buyongdae cliff and taking some time to relax at coffee hanok itโll be time for lunch. The most popular food in Andong is Jjimdak (braised chicken or chicken simmer sauce).

Around Hahoe villageโs parking area there are so many restaurants serve this. There are both normal restaurants that are quite big for group of people and little thatched roofed house that are small and here they serve also korea traditional food. There are so many people have lunch at thatched roofed house, you may need to lined up if you go there on weekend or during Mask festival time.

There is a shuttle bus that takes visitors from parking area to Hahoe folk village.
After arriving, you will feel so calm thank to the immense rice field and the sound of birth.

You can rent an electric tourist vehicle to explore the village.
Hahoe village is so peaceful. You can hear the sound of birth, hear the jingle bell of bike. You will see older people who are citizens of the village wear Korea traditional clothes and talk to each other. They are kind and friendly. You can ask them to take a photo with them.

Hahoe village is beautiful. Thatched roofed houses are like mushrooms. Tile-roofed houses are bigger and most of them has its own big yard and garden.


Walking around the village, you will see so many persimmons trees. I came here on October and yummy persimmons really got my attention. I couldnโt move my eyes away from them.
There are so many beautiful flowers gardens in Hahoe such as a large lotus ponds or this Gemi Chwinamul (aster scabe). It is also an ingredient of occidental medicine and Korea food.

There is a Nakdong river flows around the village in an S shape. From here, you also can see the Buyongdae cliff. Along with Nakdong river is an ancient pine forest.

You can discover so many traditional home appliances and toys made by bamboo

And you also can play some folk games. One of the most popular game is swing. This game attracts a lot of young people to play. Itโs really fun.
