As a matter of fact, the private university was founded in 1886 by Mary F. Scranton under Emperor Gojong so that you can imagine how the buildings looks like โ splendid! The name โEwhaโ, which means โPear Blossomsโ was bestowed by the Emperor Gojong the following year. Therefore image of pear blossom is incorporated in the schoolโs logo. Not only that, the high school section now known as Ewha Girlsโ High School also located not further away from the courseโs buildings. There is also Ewha Womans University Museum that is opened in April 1935. It has a wide range of artifacts, ranging from paintings, ceramics, crafts, folk items. In addition, its main collection is the Korean National Treasure white porcelain, iron and grape jars.

The famous Ewha Campus Complex (ECC) is designed by world renowned architect, Dominique Perrault become one of the tourist attractions in the university. Not only that, there are a lot of TV-shows were also aired here, including Running Man. ECC is Koreaโs largest underground campus from basement 6 to 1st floor. It is famous for its unique and sophisticated faรงade. You can also find a wonderful kind of-park located on the ECC. For sure, it is beautiful during autumn and spring when the flowers bloom. If you are a Starbucks coffee lover, here are the chance to visit the first ever Starbucks coffee shop in South Korea, which also located along the main alley of Ewha Womans University street. It was first opened in 27 July 1999. Unlike other Starbucks coffee shop, you can feel different kind of vibes since the ambiance of the coffee shop is clearly different even if you see it from the outside.
