Let me start by briefly introducing Taean or in Korean, ํ์. You may or may not have heard of this place, but it’s not a very common tourist attraction, but today after this post, you’ll learn something about a place called Taean, in South Korea. Taean is located below Seoul to the South of South Korea. It is located underneath the Incheon International Airport (marked with an airplane icon), as can be seen in the map below. As you can see it’s located at the very left end near the waters so they have plenty of beaches. Taean is famous for their beach called ๋ง๋ฆฌํฌํด์์์ฅ (Mallipo Beach) and their signature ํ์ํด์๊ตญ๋ฆฝ๊ณต์ (Taean Haen National Park).
I went there November of 2018. Still early winter so it’s not too cold, and the weather’s nice. One pro tip if you ever plan on visiting, rent a car if you can drive. They have public transports like in Seoul and Suwon but they are not as convenient, especially for tourists that can’t speak or read Korean. What I mean by that is, at their bus stops, they don’t have a sign that tells you when the bus is arriving, what bus you can take at that stop and etc. In the bus too, unlike Seoul and other city areas, there aren’t announcements for every stop, so you would have to depend on maps like Naver Map or Google Map or you would have to check manually at every single bus stop and check the area that’s written at the bus stop if you’re getting closer to your destination. Taean is considered a rural area and not a city like Seoul. Therefore, driving on your own is very much recommended.
Once you’re equipped with a rental car, you’re set to go anywhere, anytime. Let’s say you’ve made it in Taean for a holiday and you’re looking for a chill spot to hang out besides the beach and the forest. Or you’re just up for an adventure to somewhere new.
In this article, I will be introducing to you a cafe in Taean called ๊ฐฑ์ค์นดํ ( Gaengse Cafe or Kaengse Cafe) *side note: I’ve tried looking for the English name of this cafe but it’s not found so if you ever need to look up the cafe’s name just copy paste the Korean.

This cafe is up the hill. So that explains for the spectacular view from the top and it’s so worth it. They have a variety of coffee and a few desserts served up there. I ordered a green tea latte and my friend ordered a hot chocolate.

Taean means big comfort. Being able to enjoy your favourite cup of drink while enjoying looking at the mountains is another level of relaxing. If you’re looking for somewhere to escape from the hustle busy life of the city, you should try out this place.
Did I mention that it’s also a nice photo spot?!

Here’s a photo my friend took of me at the entrance of the cafe. The entrance too is something else, right? Al though if there are a lot of people, you might have to take turns to take that shot.
Address: 143, Cheongseong-ro, Cheongna-myeon, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do, Republic of Korea
I hope you learn a little something about Taean and their extraordinary cafe! โฅ
