Alert!!! Please don’t read this when you are hungry or else you’ll get even more suffered. Locating at the east coast of South Korea, Gangneung is naturally rich of fresh seafood. Plus, they have many “creatively” tasty buns and snacks stuffed with unique ingredients you might never consider would make any good combinations. A very good place to start off exploration of Gangneung local food is indeed Gangneung Central Market!

There are many unique local food and snacks found here and only here. First, Pain Famille Garlic Bread.

I have always loved garlic bread in Pizza Hut but this is something far beyond that and you can get it with only 3500 won in Gangneung Central Market. We started to line up for 20 minutes even before the store opens in order to buy “only 5 piece per person” limited garlic breads.
Next, Hand-made Noodle Soup at Seong-nam Hand-made Noodle Soup.
You might not believe that this big bowl of hand-made noodle soup costs only 3000 won but the taste is far beyond its price. Similar to the situation of garlic bread, we lined up for about 15 minutes to eat this and it was worth it.
We also tried out some Fish Cake Croquettes, which are allegedly must-try food in Gangneung.
They are made in 5 different flavors : kimchi, chili, sweet potato, red bean and cheese. My favorite was kimchi-flavored ones!

After having heavy fried snacks, we went on hunting some sweet desserts and we found this!
Squid Bun Shop. What an adorable concept to market black sesame desserts! We got ourselves a squid soft ice cream and a squid shake. They are sweet and refreshing!
Before leaving the market, we even went lining up once again for Chinese JJampong Bun take-out as we were too full to have another bun.
It was really extraordinarily delicious. I have never thought that jjampong and bun would make such nice combination. This is my number one among all kinds of food though!
Also we bought some cute tiny Coffee Buns.
Not only the buns are adorable, the package was equally presentable and “Instagramable”! The taste was satisfactory as well!
Gangneung Central Market is really a must-go in Gangneung. What’s more important than trying out local foods during a travel? That’s all for Gangneung Central Market in this part! Hope you enjoy reading this:)
