If you are cityscape lover and you have some money to splurge on, do not forget to head on to Seoul Sky located in the Lotte World Tower. It is another business venture of Lotte group. Lotte World Tower is one of the best spots to visit in South Korea. Day or night this gigantic pillar in Gangnam provides amazing views overlooking the city. See some of the cityโs famous places from the top. See the mountains surrounding the city, the beautiful Han River flowing through the city, and even outside of Seoul!
As a matter of fact, Lotte World Tower is located right at Jamsil station in Gangnam. At a height of 555 meters with 123 floors, it is the tallest building in the country and currently 5th tallest building in the world. Going up here is a bit expensive at the price of 27,000 KRW. Yet, with limited attractions they can offer at the top. Since it was just open to public in early 2017, you can expect a long queue before you can reach the observation deck.
In addition, I can suggest you visit here during early morning for shorter queue or you may want to visit by late afternoon to experience both day and night view with sunset on the background. Itโs pretty magnificent! Lotte World Tower is opened from morning to evening at 10 PM. You get to see the entire city covered in sunlight transition to dusk. You can experience the colours change over the city as the sun slowly goes down.
With a very convenience surrounding and easy to access by public transport, you must surely visit here if you want to experience the birdโs eye view through the city of Seoul. You just need to drop-off at the Jamsil Station (Green line). Then, you will find plenty of signs showing the way to the Seoul Sky Tower. Not forget to mention, there are Lotte Mall and also Lotte World that located in the Lotte World Tower. Therefore, you might not want to miss the chance to wander around the luxurious shopping mall.
Furthermore, there is also tourist information centre that located just outside of the Lotte World Tower and sits opposite of the tall tower beside the lake. Here, you can gather a lot of information about South Korea here.
The most important thing you need to check before going here, is the weather forecast. You might not want to head here if there will be rain, clouds, smog and fogs. Because this will limit your visibility from the top tower. Plus, make sure to bring your camera to the top of the tower. There are so many opportunities to take great photos with your friends or family with the city as your backdrop. Or even above the glass floor where you can clearly see how high you are above the ground.
There are a lot of things you can expect when you get into the Seoul Sky Observatory
First of all, when you get inside the Lotte World Mall in the main lobby area, you can find the entrance to the Seoul Sky Observatory. This is where the main ticket booth and entryway located. And also, a little past the ticket booth outside the doors is the Seoul Sky gift shop and the group ticket booth. After you redeemed your ticket at the ticket booth, you will walk through a digital corridor and a security checkpoint before taking the escalator down to Basement Floor 2.
In the Basement Floor 2, you will be going to see some of the technology used during the construction of the tower. The exhibition features several pieces of art and mesmerizing screens and light displays on your way to the fast elevator. The way up is Koreaโs first double door elevator that ascends at 10meter/sec towards the top tower. It takes almost a minute to reach the 118th floor. In the meantime, the elevator ride is accompanied by an amazing animated experience showing a time-lapse construction of the tower.
Once you reach 118th floor, you will be amazed by the highest indoor glass floor recognized by the Korea Record Institute. And even signed by the Guinness book of world Records. This 45mm thick glass floor lets you feel exactly how far up you really are. Itโs an amazing perspective to take pictures, only if you are not afraid of height!
Besides enjoying the birdโs eye view of the city, you can also take a seat and try some fluffy milk ice cream and sweets in a relaxing space. There are some coffee shops and ice cream shops you can enjoy while taking seats beside the view. You can find it is a healing time for yourself! Not only that, welcome to the first stop to pick out the perfect souvenir 500 metres above the ground and take a moment to take a picture above the huge busy city. I bet you want to own a good souvenir here!
